| Sarah Palin officially sucks!!! |

You guys might have seen this already, but in case you haven't here's a link to possibly the most reckless thing ever said in politics:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/04/palin.obama/index.html
Coming off of an okay debate performance, I can't believe she would sink that low, and apparently attacks like these are the new strategy from the McCain campaign. I hope that the general public sees this as a desperate attempt from a sinking campaign, but the "Swift boat veteran's for Truth" worked in 2004, so we'll see.
In brighter news, I came across this hilarious book description of a novel written by Jason Elam. For those who don't know, Jason Elam was the placekicker (a generally pretty sissy position) for the Denver Broncos for a number of years. Somehow, that, combined with a trip to Iraq to support the troops has inspired him to write about Monday night football and a secret terrorist plot. The book is called "Monday Night Jihad" and here's the description that was posted on Amazon:
He thought his deadliest enemy knelt across the line of scrimmage. He was wrong! After a tour of duty in Afghanistan, Riley Covington is living his dream as a professional linebacker when he comes face to face with a radical terrorist group on his own home turf. Drawn into the nightmare around him, Riley returns to his former life as a member of a special ops team that crosses oceans in an attempt to stop the escalating attacks. But time is running out, and it soon becomes apparent that the terrorists are on the verge of achieving their goal--to strike at the very heart of America. This softcover edition also includes a teaser chapter of the next Riley Covington thriller. Written by a member of the NFL; gives readers an insider look at the world of professional athletes and military intelligence. Examines the challenges of homeland security in large-venue events. Explores the tension between the desire for revenge and the constraints of the Christian faith, especially as it relates to Islam. Jason Elam has recently returned from Iraq, where he visited and supported the troops. You can read his journal at mondaynightjihad.blogspot.com |

Really? that is what pushes you over the edge about Palin. The fact that she said nanny nanny poop poo to Obama not, for example, the fact that when she was mayor her town charged rape victims for the cost of their rape kit?
I admittedly did not know about that before. I'm sure there is a lot of stuff that we could see in her past that adds up to quite a bit, but the total smearing of Obama IS what I find most troubling. The other stuff is her doing what she thinks is right and while I disagree vehemently with almost all of it, she still has her right to think that way. However, when she smears another candidate, that's demonstrating dirty politics that don't have to do with her belief system at all. Her comment about Obama is solely a ploy or tactic to win, and I hate it.
Seriously? Obama is a big boy and he is in the big boy game of rude, nasty politics. Politicians lie and name-call all the time -- everything about politics is dirty. Obama himself has told quiet a few "untruths". But that is what he signed up for, and if he can't take care of himself, well then he shouldn't have played with fire in the first place. Unfortunately, the only thing most rape victims ask for is for it to stop.
I agree with you that everyone is entitled to their own belief system, but I also believe that once an individual's belief system infringes on another individual's quality of life a line has been crossed. So she believes that lying and spreading rumors is okay. It is only a problem when she tries to destroy another person with those rumors. Isn't that what you were saying? So if we agree in this circumstance, why do you think that it is okay for her to believe that no woman should have an abortion and then force a 15 year old who has been raped by her father to give birth to his child. Which do you think is more degrading to ones quality of life: losing the campaign for presidency or having to carry a baby to term that is a living testament to the brutal horror you experienced by the hand of one you trusted? The scary and terrible part isn't what she believes -- it is the fact that people are about to elect her to a place of power where she could dictate how we all must live.
